Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)

By choosing to earn your Doctor of Education through Liberty University’s® Graduate Studies, you can set that opportunity in motion.

Liberty University’s Doctor of Education program provides advanced training for individuals, like you, seeking positions in higher education, developing competent and effective leaders with a Christian worldview who will model high academic standards and assume a leadership role in the field of education. Specialized courses develop the skills necessary to assume a facilitating role in accomplishing the goals and objectives of an education system, whether it is as a teacher, superintendent, principal, college instructor, or another academic position requiring strong leadership and decision-making abilities. This program is approved through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Learn more about program specific accreditations.

Tuition

$430 per credit hour (based on full-time enrollment)

Program Delivery Format

Online, with three classes required on-campus

Residency Requirement

  • 3 on-campus intensives
  • On-campus dissertation defense

Credit Hours

  • 60 total hours
  • Up to 9 credit hours can be transferred in from an accredited and unconferred degree
  • Up to 24 hours of coursework for the Ed.D. program can be applied from an accredited, conferred Ed.S. degree.

Ed.D. students must choose a concentration:

  • Educational Leadership
  • Teaching & Learning

Dissertation

A 6 credit hour dissertation is a required part of the Ed.D. program.
